The Glazers will reportedly not sell Manchester United for any less than £9bn despite publicly insisting that the club is not for sale.
English billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, who failed with a late attempt to buy Chelsea, held talks with Joel and Avram Glazer about buying United but was rebuffed.
According to the Daily Star, it would take an offer in excess of $10bn (£9.09bn) for them to entertain a potential sale.
That would make the Old Trafford outfit the most valuable sports team of all time, more valuable than the Dallas Cowboys, who are currently valued by Forbes at £7.2bn.
Forbes ranks the Red Devils as the third-most valuable football club (£4.1bn), just ahead of rivals Liverpool (£4bn) and just after Barcelona (£4.5bn) and Real Madrid (£4.6bn).
The most expensive purchase of a sports team was the Walton-Penner Group's acquisition of the Denver Broncos for £4.2bn earlier this year.
