Javier Hernandez believes that the competition for places in the Manchester United starting lineup spurs him on.

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has insisted that he is not fazed by the competition for places in the starting lineup.

England international Danny Welbeck, Mame Biram Diouf and Federico Macheda are all back in the United squad to add to Wayne Rooney, Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov.

However, the Mexican international believes that the presence of other centre-forwards spurs him on.

"It's not a problem," the 23-year-old told Inside United. "I've come to learn that there will always be competition, at any club.

"You look around on the training pitch and there are almost 30 players, but only 11 can start a game. So it's tough.

"You'll always have disappointments. It helps you improve, though. On the training ground everybody wants to do their best, they want to prove what they can do and earn a spot in the team."

Chicharito joined United from Mexican club Chivas in 2010.
