Daniel James: 'I'm learning from Eden Hazard'

Daniel James reveals that he attempts to improve himself by modelling his game around the style of Eden Hazard.

Daniel James has revealed that he attempts to improve himself by modelling his game around the style of Eden Hazard.

The Welshman, who moved to Manchester United for a fee of £18m over the summer, has netted three goals for the club so far this season.

Hazard, meanwhile, left the Premier League over the transfer window after seven years at Chelsea to complete a move to Real Madrid.

Speaking to the BBC about which top players influenced him, James said: "The way Hazard was at Chelsea - his movement in behind, when to go and when to stay - he's so quick, but the way he stops people and goes, and little one-twos, getting shots off quickly is something he's done his whole career.

"Getting in the box for tap-ins is something I need to improve on. When Hazard does a one-two you can't get anywhere near him.

"When I was younger, people said to me you won't always be able to rely on speed. I used to just kick it past players and run - but nowadays that won't happen, especially when people bank up on me."

Since claiming three goals in his opening four games as a United player, James has gone six games without scoring as United endure a miserable patch of form which has left them two points clear of the relegation zone.

Hazard, opened his account for Los Blancos during a 4-2 win over Grenada which maintained the club's three-point lead at the top of La Liga.
