Phil Jones wants centre-back role

Manchester United and England star Phil Jones feels that his best position is at centre-back.

Manchester United defender Phil Jones has pinpointed centre-back as his natural position.

The 21-year-old has been used both as a right-back and in midfield during his time at Old Trafford, and has been deployed sparingly in central defence in his eight caps for England.

"I've always said that is hopefully a position I establish myself in but as long as I'm enjoying my football it is up to [David Moyes]," the Daily Mail quotes the former Blackburn Rovers player as saying.

"I believe playing in numerous positions can only help me when I do go back to centre back and establish myself there.

"I think [Roy Hodgson] sees me at centre-half but we have some top players and it's never going to be easy to break in."

Jones is a part of the England squad to take on Chile and Germany.
