Former Manchester United striker Joe Jordan is adamant that any fan found guilty of tasteless chanting at football matches should be banned for life.
The comments come after Red Devils supporters took part in anti-Liverpool chanting just days after a report into the Hillsborough disaster was made public.
Jordan believes that those who participate in such chants should be punished with bans.
"Eliminate it," Jordan told BBC Sport. "The people who are found guilty of that (chanting) on Saturday should be banned for life.
"I can't quite get my head around why people come to football matches with that first and foremost on their minds.
"What they come out with has nothing to do with a football match. It's not getting at the players, it's getting at families. Neither they nor I can imagine the pain those people have gone through."
Jordan spent three years at United.
