Leeds looking to avoid equalling worst-ever winless run against Manchester United

Leeds United are looking to avoid equalling an unwanted 67-year-old club winless record when they travel to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Leeds United are looking to avoid equalling a worst-ever winless run when they face Manchester United in the Premier League on Wednesday.

The side from West Yorkshire have failed to win any of their last 17 away league matches against the Red Devils, dating back to 1981.

An 18-game winless run away to West Ham United between the interwar years and shortly after is the current club record, so caretakers Michael Skubala, Paco Gallardo and Chris Armas will hope they can stop Leeds from matching that 67-year record.

They will take charge following the sacking of Jesse Marsch in the week after just 32 Premier League matches in charge, in which he won only eight despite keeping Leeds in the top flight last season.

A run of seven matches without a win for Leeds condemned Marsch to the sack, as they now sit 17th, level on points with Everton who occupy the final relegation spot.

They have an uphill task at Old Trafford on Wednesday too, as opponents Man United are currently on a 13-game winning streak at home in all competitions - their longest in over a decade.

Bruno Fernandes has started to find form at exactly the right time too in preparation to face his favourite Premier League opponents, as the Portuguese midfielder has scored six and assisted another two in just four games against Leeds.
