Romelu Lukaku claims that leaving Manchester United for Inter Milan has provided him with "a boost of energy".

Romelu Lukaku has claimed that leaving Manchester United for Inter Milan this summer was 'the right step for his career'.

Despite being just two years into a five-year contract contract at Old Trafford, Lukaku was allowed to move to San Siro by United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Having netted two goals in as many games for his new side, the Belgium international has said that the transfer has provided him with "a boost of energy" during the early weeks of the campaign.

The 26-year-old told Sky in Italy: "I just knew I came here to play for a big, big team. Where the expectations are really, really high and the ambition of the club is going in the right direction.

"So it was the right step for me. 26, I wanted to discover something else playing in a league that I love, for me it was the right move. I said to (Kwadwo) Asamoah, I really made the right move, this is the energy, the boost of energy that I needed."

Inter currently sit at the top of the Serie A standings on goal difference.
