Louis Saha says that his former side Manchester United got a poor deal when they allowed Alexis Sanchez to join Inter Milan on loan.

Louis Saha has said that his former side Manchester United got a poor deal when they allowed Alexis Sanchez to join Inter Milan on loan.

The 30-year-old Chilean struggled to settle at Old Trafford after his move from Arsenal 20 months ago, scoring just five times in 45 appearances for the Red Devils.

Such poor form led him to be deemed surplus to requirements by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the former Barcelona star joining old United teammate Romelu Lukaku in making the move to join Antonio Conte at Inter.

However, United's former striker Saha believes that the club got the short end of the stick in the Sanchez move because they are still paying most of his wages and his departure leaves them light in attack, with only Anthony Martial, Daniel James, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford available.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, the 41-year-old said: "It's a strange one, I think Alexis got to a point where his confidence dropped.

"The terms of the agreement show he needed to move. He's a great player with an abundance of skills and passion. But he couldn't deliver for United, so having a deal where United pays is a bad deal."

The Chilean international was an unused substitute as the Nerazzurri beat Cagliari 2-1, with Lukaku receiving racist abuse after scoring the winner.
