Manchester United deny LMA claims over David Moyes sacking

Manchester United refute suggestions from the LMA that they acted unprofessionally in sacking David Moyes.

Manchester United have dismissed comments made by the chief executive of the League Managers Association regarding their conduct during the sacking of David Moyes.

Earlier today in a statement, Richard Bevan accused United of having acted "in an unprofessional manner" following the confirmation yesterday morning that the Scot had been relieved of his duties less than 12 months into his six-year contract.

Bevan's viewpoint was based mainly around leaks to the media on Monday afternoon, with many outlets reporting that United had decided to part company with their manager, despite speculation that the 50-year-old had yet to be informed.

However, a spokesman from the club has since insisted that the verdict to end Moyes's tenure was not made until late on Monday evening and he learned of the decision in person early on Tuesday.

It has further been claimed that United removed Moyes from the position now rather than at the end of the season because they did not want to disrespect him by searching for a replacement behind his back.
