Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Anders Lindegaard will be out for at least a month after suffering ankle ligament damage.
The 27-year-old's injury means that David de Gea, who missed the Reds' 2-0 win over Stoke through illness, is likely to return for United's game at Chelsea on Sunday.
De Gea has been the subject of a lot of criticism for his role in last weekend's FA Cup fourth-round defeat at Liverpool.
Ferguson said: "It looks like Lindegaard will be out for at least four weeks, maybe even six with ankle ligament damage.
"De Gea should be fit and whilst Ben Amos has had a little bit of experience, it is not the kind of experience you'd expect going into a game at Stamford Bridge."
Lindergaard has five Danish caps to his name.
