Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic feels that he was unlucky to be handed a red card against Watford on Saturday.

Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic has accepted that he deserved to be booked against Watford on Saturday night, but feels that he was a touch unfortunate to be sent off in his team's 2-1 win.

Matic picked up his first yellow card in the 70th minute of the clash, before a late trip on Will Hughes saw the Serbia international given his marching orders for a second booking.

The 30-year-old will now miss United's Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers next weekend, and the midfielder will take the opportunity to "rest".

"I think the first yellow card was a clear yellow card. The second one, I'm not sure. It was a foul but I'm not sure if it was a yellow card. It's okay. I accept the decision of the referee and I will have one game to rest," Matic told reporters.

United will begin their 2018-19 Champions League group-stage campaign with a clash against Swiss outfit Young Boys on Wednesday night.
