Jose Mourinho: 'Chelsea can make Radamel Falcao score goals again'

Jose Mourinho vows to get Radamel Falcao back to his best form in a Chelsea shirt this season, following a disappointing spell at Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho has vowed to get Radamel Falcao back to his best form in a Chelsea shirt this season, following a disappointing spell at Manchester United.

The Colombian forward joined the Red Devils on a surprise season-long loan deal from Monaco, but he struggled to hit the heights enjoyed at each of his previous clubs.

Following a disappointing campaign at Old Trafford, Chelsea opted to snap up Falcao earlier this month on a similar deal, which Mourinho is confident will pay dividends.

"When he went to Man United I have to say I was a bit scared," the Portuguese told ESPN. "He's a predator in the box and a guy who does score goals all the time.

"He did that in every club in every league, so I was convinced he was going to do that in our league, in England."

Asked about the 29-year-old's injury problems in recent times, Mourinho added: "We had a very exhaustive analysis of his condition before we made a decision.

"Our doctor had real work to investigate all of that. He is not, for sure, a physical problem. So if it's not physical, we can make him score goals again."

Falcao will step up his pre-season programme by playing around half an hour of Wednesday's match against Barcelona.
