Sunderland boss David Moyes insists that he holds no ill-feeling towards former club Manchester United.

Sunderland boss David Moyes has insisted that he holds no ill-feeling towards Manchester United as he prepares to return to his former club on Boxing Day.

Moyes was appointed as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor at Man United in May 2013, but failed to see out the 2013-14 campaign with the club after struggling for results.

Following a stint with Real Sociedad, Moyes returned to England to take charge of Sunderland, and the 53-year-old will return to Old Trafford on December 26 for the first time since his dismissal.

The Scot, however, has said that he has 'moved on' from his time with the English giants and is now fully focused on helping Sunderland survive the threat of Premier League relegation this season.

"There are very few people who get offered the Man Utd job so, at the time, I was chosen for the right reasons. Man Utd, to be fair, have, or had, I should say, great traditions of choosing British managers and people who had worked in this country - that has changed now," Moyes told reporters.

"Football moves on, the one thing you always find in football is that it's quite small, you meet people, you work with them, you work against them sometimes. I've been in football a long time and the way I've found it is that you move on and get on with your next job and I'm getting on with my job here at Sunderland."

Sunderland will enter the clash with Man United down in 18th position in the Premier League table.
