Phil Neville: 'Players believe in David Moyes'

Phil Neville claims that the Manchester United squad is starting to "trust and believe" in new manager David Moyes.

Manchester United assistant coach Phil Neville has claimed that the squad is starting to "trust and believe" in new manager David Moyes.

The Premier League champions endured a shaky start to the season, but four wins from their last five matches have seen them climb up to fifth place in the table.

Neville believes that the team's upturn in fortunes is down to an increased understanding of Moyes's managerial style following Sir Alex Ferguson's departure over the summer.

"When you've had one manager who has had such a big influence on a club for 27 years, it was always going to take time for the new manager to bed down his ideas and I think it has taken three or four months," he told BBC Sport.

"Now the players are beginning to trust and believe in what the manager is trying to do. He is trying to make them better.

"It was always going to take a bit of time after one man had controlled the club for so long, there was always going to be a transition period."

United return to Premier League action on Sunday when they make the trip to Cardiff City.
