Report: Ryan Giggs not in frame for Manchester United job

Man United may have appointed Ryan Giggs as interim boss following the sacking of David Moyes, but the 40-year-old is reportedly not a contender for the full-time job.

Ryan Giggs is not believed to be a contender to fill Manchester United's managerial vacancy on a permanent basis following the sacking of David Moyes.

The 40-year-old has been appointed as interim boss until the end of the season after Moyes's miserable 10-month Old Trafford reign was ended on Tuesday.

Former United striker Dwight Yorke, among others, has tipped the Welshman to take the helm full-time, but BBC Sport understands that Giggs is not under consideration for the role.

The Red Devils hierarchy reportedly feel that an experienced manager is needed to lead the club's resurgence and control the £200m war chest being set aside for summer transfers.

That would rule Giggs, who has made 962 appearances for United during his 24-year playing career, out of the running, but bookmaker Coral still see him as the 10-1 second favourite, behind Louis van Gaal.

The Netherlands coach, who has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, is the early frontrunner to succeed Moyes, while Jurgen Klopp and Diego Simeone have also been touted as candidates.
