Wayne Rooney believes that drawing with Everton was the turning point in the title race.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has pinpointed the club's 4-4 draw with Everton as the turning point in the Premier League title race.

United beat Sunderland 1-0 at the Stadium of Light on Sunday and thought that they had won the title with Manchester City trailing 2-1 to Queens Park Rangers.

However, City hit two late goals at the Etihad Stadium to ensure they lifted the Premier League crown, leaving United to miss out on goal difference. However, Rooney believes that it was the clash with Everton that made the difference in the title race.

"The biggest disappointment was the Everton game," added Rooney.

"To be 4-2 up, with 10 minutes to go and to lose that lead is disappointing.

"But there are a lot of young players in the team. That is only going to benefit them. They will learn from that."

Rooney finished the season with 27 Premier League goals.
