Wayne Rooney: Sir Alex Ferguson is the secret to Manchester United's success

Wayne Rooney insists that the stability of Sir Alex's reign at Old Trafford is the reason for their success.

Wayne Rooney has said that stability at the managerial position is the reason for Manchester United's continued success.

The former Everton forward, who has won four Premier League titles in seven seasons with the club, credits Sir Alex Ferguson for the Red Devils' dominance over the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

"It's no coincidence that the manager has been here for so long," Rooney told The Sun.

"You see other teams changing managers and, once that happens, they tend to change the backroom staff and they want to bring in their own players.

"At United we have the consistency and stability of having the same manager and staff and I'm sure that's a lot better for the players."

United look to extend their lead over Chelsea to five points with at home this weekend.
