Ryan Giggs 'rejects Manchester United's offer of reduced coaching role'

Ryan Giggs reportedly turns down Manchester United's offer of a reduced coaching role in Jose Mourinho's backroom team.

Ryan Giggs is on the verge of ending his 29-year association with Manchester United after reportedly rejecting an offer of a coaching role within Jose Mourinho's backroom team.

The Welshman has been deliberating over his future since Mourinho was appointed as Louis van Gaal's successor at the end of the season.

Giggs was assistant boss to both David Moyes and Van Gaal across three years, but Mourinho's long-standing right-hand man Rui Faria is due to take that position.

Reports have claimed that Giggs has been offered a reduced role in Mourinho's coaching team, but according to the Daily Mail, the 42-year-old has rejected the offer as he believes that United have gone back on an agreement to give him the manager's job.

The report adds that the club may come up with a fresh offer for Giggs, but it is believed that the former midfielder, who won 35 trophies during a 24-year senior playing career at the North-West outfit, is unhappy with the club's conduct in recent years.

Giggs has reportedly not yet spoken directly to Mourinho, who was hired on a three-year deal in May, five months after getting sacked by Chelsea.
