Manchester United's Chris Smalling will not be involved in England's Euro 2012 campaign due to a groin injury.

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling will play no part in England's campaign in the European Championships this summer due to a groin injury.

Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed the injury blow in a press conference this morning and has also stated that Red Devils striker Danny Welbeck will not feature in the club's final Premier League fixture against Sunderland.

Welbeck has been sidelined for the past week after sustaining an ankle injury in United's 1-0 loss to title challengers Manchester City.

Despite the forward not being fit to finish the season with the reigning English champions, Ferguson has claimed that Welbeck should be available for the Three Lions' campaign in Poland and Ukraine.

England boss Roy Hodgson will announce his 23-man squad for this summer's tournament next Wednesday.
