Manchester United to release Phil Neville, Chris Woods?

Reports claim that Phil Neville and Chris Woods will soon leave their coaching roles at Manchester United.

Coaches Phil Neville and Chris Woods have reportedly been informed that they are surplus to requirements at Manchester United.

The duo arrived last summer as part of David Moyes's coaching team, but following the Scot's sacking last month, their futures at Old Trafford had been called into question.

They were both retained by interim manager Ryan Giggs - a former teammate of Neville's - but with Louis van Gaal's appointment widely expected to be confirmed in the near future, both Neville and goalkeeping coach Woods are to leave the club, according to numerous reports.

However, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes, who have also assisted Giggs in recent weeks, have been tipped to remain with the Red Devils, although they would return to their previous roles with the youth sides.

Giggs, meanwhile, is expected to be named as Van Gaal's number two.
