Louis van Gaal calls for belief from fans

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal urges the club's fans to continue believing in the team despite their poor recent form.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has called for the club's fans to "prove their belief" in the team.

The Red Devils have been criticised from various quarters for their style of play so far this season, while the club is currently going through its longest winless streak since 2007.

Van Gaal acknowledged that such form is conducive to fans becoming disgruntled, but hinted that many would not be aware of the work going on behind the scenes at the club.

"It's always like that when you lose. Then fans have to prove their belief again," he told reporters.

"The board can see what you can do as a manager in practice but the fans cannot see that, so when you lose you need the belief of the fans. It is a question for the fans, not the manager."

United will look to end their five-match winless streak in all competitions when they host Norwich City at Old Trafford tomorrow afternoon.
