Louis van Gaal: 'The Manchester United board fully back me'

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal insists that he has "the full confidence" of the board and his players.

Louis van Gaal has insisted that he has the full confidence of the Manchester United board and players amid rumours of dressing-room unrest.

Reports earlier this week suggested that a number of senior players had spoken out against the Dutchman for his tactics during games and "boring" training sessions.

"It's fine, but I have said already, more than once, but I have seen articles that it is bit like that (losing the dressing room)," said Van Gaal at his pre-match press conference today. "It's a little bit crazy, but that is the world.

"I have the full confidence of my board and my players, that I feel, and it's like that. But we have to get results, we have to win. We hope to give the result everyone is expecting."

Van Gaal also urged United fans to get behind him and the team, adding: "The board of directors can see what you can do as a manager, but the fans cannot see that. So when you lose, you need the belief of the fans. But that's a question for the fans, not for the manager."

United, who currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, welcome struggling Norwich City to Old Trafford on Saturday.
