Manchester United maintained their unbeaten record under Louis van Gaal with a 3-1 win over Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup.

The Red Devils took the lead in the 21st minute courtesy of a well-worked team goal comprising of more than 20 passes and capped off by a neat Ashley Young finish.
Real were level five minutes later when inexperienced United defender Michael Keane brought down Gareth Bale in the box, conceding a penalty that the Welshman coolly tucked away himself.

However, United had the final word before half time, taking the lead under fortuitous circumstances as a Young cross was misjudged by Real keeper Iker Casillas and ended up in the back of the net.
The Spaniards came close to an equaliser early in the second period after Luke Shaw conceded a free kick in a dangerous position, from which Bale curled an effort against the post.
Goalscoring opportunities at both ends of the park followed, with Pepe squandering a golden chance for Real before Javier Hernandez tested Casillas with a close-range strike.
The Mexican made amends for the miss in the 80th minute by heading home United's third from Shinji Kagawa's back-post cross to put the game beyond Real and help secure his team's place in the final of the pre-season tournament.
