Team News: Louis van Gaal names unchanged Manchester United XI

Manchester United are unchanged for their Premier League trip to Tottenham Hotspur - the first time in 84 matches that they have not made changes to their team.

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has named an unchanged side for this afternoon's Premier League clash at Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite the Red Devils facing Newcastle United just two days ago, the Dutchman has stuck with the same starting XI for the first time of his reign.

There is a change on the bench, however, with Luke Shaw returning in place of Tyler Blackett.

As a result, Wayne Rooney will continue in the centre of midfield, with Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao in attack.

The hosts, meanwhile, hand a rare start to Andros Townsend, while there is also a spot in the team for Benjamin Stambouli.

Roberto Soldado is named on the bench, leaving Harry Kane to lead the line with support from the in-form Christian Eriksen.

Spurs: Lloris; Chiriches, Fazio, Vertonghen, Davies; Mason, Stambouli; Townsend, Eriksen, Chadli; Kane

United: De Gea; McNair, Evans, Jones; Valencia, Carrick, Rooney, Young; Mata; Van Persie, Falcao
