Robin van Persie returns to the Manchester United starting lineup as Sir Alex Ferguson makes six changes for the trip to Aston Villa.

Robin van Persie has returned to the Manchester United team for the trip to Aston villa on Saturday evening.

The Dutch striker was named as a substitution for the Champions League victory over Braga in midweek but replaces Javier Hernandez at Villa Park.

Elsewhere, there are also places for Ashley Young, Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick in midfield for the league leaders.

Rio Ferdinand and Rafel da Silva also return to line up in defence for Sir Alex Ferguson's side.

Paul Lambert has chosen to keep faith with the majority of the team that beat Sunderland last weekend but has been forced into one change, with Enda Stevens replacing the injured Joe Bennett.

Villa: Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Stevens, Westwood, Bannan, Weimann, Ireland, Agbonlahor, Benteke

Man Utd: De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Smalling, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Young, Rooney, Van Persie
