Manchester City ace Kevin De Bruyne is relishing the chance to 'make history' by overcoming Manchester United next weekend and sealing the Premier League title.

Kevin De Bruyne has admitted that beating Manchester United next weekend to win the Premier League title "would be something special" for Manchester City.

The Citizens can win a third top-flight crown in six years on Saturday if they overcome closest challengers United at the Etihad Stadium.

City, who first face Liverpool in a Champions League quarter-final in midweek, have lost just one game in the league all season and dropped points a further three times.

De Bruyne is relishing the prospect of maintaining his side's impressive run of form and 'making history' against arch-rivals United.

"To [win the title] against United would be special," he told reporters. "It would be so nice to go on and win against United, for the fans it would be something special. It would be wonderful, something different – you know how it goes between them, you know the history, so it would be historic.

"The sooner we do it, the better. Then we can focus on other games. It's a tough run. We play Liverpool, United, Liverpool again and then Tottenham. It's pretty impressive, eh?"

City beat Everton 3-1 at Goodison Park last time out to make it five league victories in a row.
