Arsenal are reportedly willing to make an improved bid for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni after seeing an initial offer of almost £70m turned down.

Arsenal are reportedly ready to make a second bid for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

The Gunners are undergoing a revamp of their midfield options this summer, with Kai Havertz having joined from Chelsea and Declan Rice understood to be on the verge of completing his £105m move from West Ham United.

Meanwhile, Granit Xhaka has departed the Emirates Stadium, while Mikel Arteta is also thought to want £50m-rated Romeo Lavia from Southampton.

Tchouameni is another name that has been linked with a switch to North London, with reports claiming that they have already lodged an €80m (£68.8m) bid for the Frenchman.

That bid has not been accepted, though, and Defensa Central claims that Arsenal are willing to go as high as €90m (£77.4m) to secure his services this summer.

Such a deal would continue a big-spending window for Arsenal, whose impending deals for Rice and Ajax defender Jurrien Timber are set to take their spree to more than £200m.

Manchester United and Liverpool have also been credited with firm interest in Tchouameni, but may be unwilling to meet Real Madrid's asking price, having already spent big on their respective midfields this summer.

Real Madrid are under no pressure to sell the 23-year-old either, with five years still remaining on his contract at the Bernabeu.

Touchameni only joined Los Blancos from Monaco last summer and his preference is understood to be staying at the Spanish giants in order to fight for his place.

The France international made 50 appearances across all competitions last season, but was not always a first-choice starter for Carlo Ancelotti when he had a fully-fit squad to choose from.

Competition for places in the midfield of the capital outfit has since increased too, with Real Madrid bringing Jude Bellingham to the club earlier this summer.

Stalwarts Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have also extended their stays in the Spanish capital, while highly-rated teen Arda Guler has now arrived from Fenerbahce too.
