Rafael Benitez: 'Sergio Ramos is 100% staying at Real Madrid'

Rafael Benitez is "100%" certain that Sergio Ramos will stay at Real Madrid, despite interest from Manchester United.

Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez has warned Manchester United that they have no chance of signing Sergio Ramos this summer as the defender is "100%" staying at the Bernabeu.

The Spaniard, who is reported to be unhappy at the La Liga club, is believed to have been on United's wishlist for some time.

There were suggestions that the Red Devils were hoping to include Ramos in a swap deal that would involve goalkeeper David de Gea moving to the 10-time European champions, but talk has since quietened.

During a press conference, Benitez was adamant that the 29-year-old will be part of the team for the upcoming season.

"Sergio Ramos is our player and he is a key player for us," Benitez told reporters. "I would like to see him at the beginning of the season playing for us. I think he will be crucial for us during the season.

"I am 100%. I insist it's clear for me and for the club that Sergio will be here. I have a lot of respect for [United manager] Louis van Gaal and football is a curious world, but Sergio Ramos will stay with us."

Ramos joined Real back in 2005 from Sevilla.
