Birmingham City have reportedly set their sights on retaining current Manchester United loanee Tahith Chong for another year next season.
The 22-year-old has scored one goal and provided two assists in 19 Championship appearances during this campaign, which was disrupted for Chong between November and February, when he had to undergo surgery on a groin injury.
However, despite a limited number of games in a Birmingham shirt, the winger has impressed manager Lee Bowyer, who is believed to want to keep the youngster for another season.
The Mirror reports that any deal for Birmingham to secure Chong's services for the 2022-23 campaign will have to wait, as Man United want the young Dutch international to take part in their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia.
Man United's last match during their pre-season tour will be on July 19, and the Championship campaign kicks off just 11 days after that date, meaning that the Blues will have to work quickly to re-sign Chong on loan.
Since arriving at Old Trafford in 2016 to enter the youth system at Man United, Chong has gone on to make 16 first-team appearances after making his debut in 2019.
