Former Real Madrid defender Ricardo Carvalho has insisted that Cristiano Ronaldo will sign a new contract at the Berbabeu.

Speculation regarding Ronaldo's future has been rife, with Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Carvalho's new team Monaco all linked with a move.

However, the Portuguese defender believes that his former teammate will stay at the club, claiming that president Florentino Perez is "doing everything" to make Ronaldo sign a new deal.

Speaking to Marca, the 35-year-old said: "The president is doing everything he can for Cristiano to sign a new contract and he'll stay."

Carvalho signed a one-year deal with Ligue 1 outfit Monaco, ending his three-year spell in Madrid.
