Chelsea 'signing Timo Werner for nearly £30m less than his value'

Timo Werner has been valued at £80.5m by CIES Football Observatory, nearly £30m more than Chelsea are expected to hand over for the RB Leipzig striker.

Chelsea will sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner for nearly £30m less than his true valuation, according to a study by CIES Football Observatory.

The Blues are rumoured to have triggered Werner's £53.8m release clause last week and have agreed personal terms with the Germany international.

Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has insisted that a deal is not yet over the line, however, with Liverpool and Manchester United supposedly still interested.

Should they get a transfer over the line, research by CIES suggests that Chelsea will be getting Werner for a bargain price as his true valuation is closer to the £80.5m mark.

The 24-year-old has a combined 33 goals and assists in the Bundesliga this season, putting him level with Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho in terms of goal involvements.

Meanwhile, it is has been reported that Chelsea are also closing in on a deal for Bayer Leverkusen attacker Kai Havertz as part of a double swoop on the German top flight.
