Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has said that he is "very happy" at the club amid persistent speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid.

Madrid are known to be long-term admirers of the Spain number one and were only prevented from signing him in 2015 by an admin error which scuppered the deal at the 11th hour.

The European champions are reportedly considering reviving their interest again this summer after missing out on Athletic Bilbao shot-stopper Kepa, but De Gea insists that he is happy at Old Trafford.

"When you think I'm in my seventh season now, I'm really, really happy with all my time here. A lot has happened, you know, mostly all really good. One or two things not quite so good, but I'm very happy," he told Premier League Productions.

"I came here as a kid and I'm a man now both on and off the field. From a football point of view and in my own life as well. Looking back, it's been seven fantastic years."

Real Madrid have also been linked with Thibaut Courtois and Gianluigi Donnarumma as possible replacements for current number one Keylor Navas.
