The agent of Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries has reportedly flown to England to hold discussions with a number of Premier League clubs.

Only 18 months have passed since the Italian giants won the race to sign the right-sided defender, who has generally impressed since his switch to San Siro.

The Netherlands international has chipped in with seven goals and 10 assists from his 68 appearances, his better form coming during 2021-22.

Nevertheless, despite failing to reproduce his numbers from that campaign this time around, Dumfries remains very much on the radar of clubs in England.

That prolonged interest partly stems from Inter potentially being required to make a notable sale before the end of the January transfer window.

While that could possibly occur through Milan Skriniar departing for another top European club, Dumfries is an increasingly likely option having recently been dropped by head coach Simone Inzaghi.

According to Calciomercato, his representative Rafaela Pimenta has made the effort to arrange talks with several Premier League sides, including Manchester United.

The Red Devils have long been linked with alternative right-backs to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but the current incumbent has starred during a run in the team since the resumption.

However, his long-term future at Old Trafford remains in doubt, leaving United to contemplate other options particularly when Dumfries could be on the market.

Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the 26-year-old and the West Londoners may make a bid for Dumfries if they fail to tempt Lyon into selling Malo Gusto.

The former PSV Eindhoven man still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at Inter, yet that is something which is unlikely to hinder a transfer.

I Nerazzurri are allegedly ready to demand in the region of €40m (£35.2m), more than double what they paid his previous employers in 2021.

If a sale goes through, it would significantly boost Inter's standing with FFP, something that club officials are keen to achieve during the calendar year.
