Robin van Persie to play against Everton?

Sir Alex Ferguson says that Robin van Persie should make his Manchester United debut against Everton on Monday.

Sir Alex Ferguson has said that he is confident Robin van Persie will make his Manchester United debut against Everton on Monday.

The Dutchman is currently undergoing a medical with the Red Devils ahead of a reported £24m transfer from Arsenal.

Ferguson said that discussions between Van Persie's agent and United's chief executive are progressing and that the 29-year-old should be available for the Premier League curtain-raiser.

"He is on his way up from London for a medical later this afternoon," said Ferguson. "We hope that goes according to plan. His agent is in discussions with David Gill right about now.

"We hope all the things will be tied up, although sometimes medicals do take a bit longer. I am sure he will be available for Monday's game."

Van Persie scored 30 Premier League goals for the Gunners last season.
