Manchester United are allegedly close to extending their loan agreement for Shanghai Shenhua forward Odion Ighalo.

Shanghai Shenhua are reportedly prepared to allow Odion Ighalo to remain at Manchester United until January 2021.

Before the coronavirus pandemic, Ighalo netted four times from eight appearances in all competitions, doing enough to impress manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, while United and Ighalo have been keen to continue their partnership, Shanghai have wanted their striker to return to China ahead of the resumption of the season.

According to Sky Sports News, that is now unlikely to occur should the relevant parties be able to finalise a compromise.

In return for allowing Ighalo to stay at Old Trafford until the start of next year, Shanghai want Ighalo to pen a new contract.

Providing there are no late complications, a deal should be confirmed in the coming days.
