Jordy Clasie is reportedly nearing a move to Southampton after he was left out of Feyenoord's squad for a pre-season friendly.
Clasie has been linked with a move away from the Rotterdam outfit, with the Saints believed to have earmarked the midfielder as a replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin.
Feyenoord revealed on their Twitter page that Clasie had been omitted from the team to face Fortuna Dusseldorf due to "serious interest" in the player from another club.
According to Metro, Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has already identified the 24-year-old as a target this summer.
However, they could face competition from Manchester United, who are rumoured to have expressed an interest in the Netherlands international in recent weeks.
