Report: Liverpool, Manchester United keen on Leicester City's Danny Drinkwater

Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly both eager to sign Danny Drinkwater from surprise Premier League champions Leicester City.

Liverpool and Manchester United have expressed an interest in signing Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater, according to reports.

The 26-year-old, a former Red Devils academy player, signed for the Foxes in 2012 and has helped transform them from a competitive Championship side into the champions of England.

According to The Mirror, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is still keen on Drinkwater, despite the Anfield side failing to qualify for Europe and Leicester reaching the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson's former first-team coach Rene Meulensteen said of Drinkwater: "He has a United history having come through the academy and look how he's established himself in the Premier League.

"If you bring a foreign player in they might need time to adjust. Players like Danny Drinkwater – who is now in the England squad – would fit in nice and easily at United."

Drinkwater was on Man Utd's books between 2008 and 2012, but never played a senior game for them, instead being sent out on loan to a number of Football League clubs.
