Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek emerges as a January transfer target for Manchester United, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a big-money move for Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.

Injuries to Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay have left the Red Devils short of numbers in the middle of the park, with Fred, Nemanja Matic and Andreas Pereira the only first-team options in that area of the field.

According to ESPN, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is considering a January approach for Van de Beek, who was strongly linked with Real Madrid in last summer's transfer window.

The report claims that Ajax value the Netherlands international in excess of £50m but might be forced into a sale having failed to qualify for the knockout stage of the Champions League.

Van de Beek, who has been capped on nine occasions by his country, scored 17 times in all competitions for the Dutch champions during the 2019-20 campaign.

This term, meanwhile, he has managed eight goals and eight assists in 26 outings at club level, including two strikes in five Champions League group matches.

The midfielder's ability to find the back of the net has allegedly made him a target for Solskjaer's team, who are back in Premier League action at home to Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.
