Manchester United, Manchester City 'learn Sandro Tonali asking price'

Brescia president Massimo Cellino claims that in-demand midfielder Sandro Tonali is worth £259m.

Brescia president Massimo Cellino has claimed that teenage midfielder Sandro Tonali is worth £259m.

The 19-year-old starred for Brescia last season as the club earned promotion from Serie B, while he has already made eight appearances in Italy's top flight during the 2019-20 campaign.

Manchester United and Manchester City have both been linked with moves for the central midfielder, and Cellino has claimed that Pep Guardiola's side have already been in contact.

Interested parties will seemingly have to pay a world-record fee for Tonali, though, as the Brescia president has claimed that the youngster is worth £259m.

"For me he is worth €300m (£259m), which means I don't want to sell," Cellino told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I have a dream. If Sandro accepts, I am ready to make a big financial sacrifice to extend his contract. It's up to him to decide. He can stay here and enjoy his football, or go to a big club and risk being left on the bench.

"All the big Italian clubs [have been in contact]. Abroad there's Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, but in my view, he'd be better off remaining as a protagonist with Brescia."

Tonali will see his current deal at Stadio Mario Rigamonti expire in June 2021, although the Italian club do have the option of activating a further 12 months.
