Manchester United to make Sergio Ramos swoop?

Sergio Ramos's contract dispute with Real Madrid has put Manchester United on alert, according to reports.

Manchester United will step up their chase of Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos after reports suggested that his contract talks with the Spanish giants have stalled.

The 29-year-old has two years left on his current deal at Real, but the club are unwilling to meet his £10m-a-year wage demands.

The dispute has put United on alert, and Louis van Gaal would have to spend £20m to prise the Spain international away from Madrid.

Ramos's agent and brother, Rene, is quoted by the Daily Star as saying: "For now he still has two years of contract. We await the call of the club but Real Madrid have not called me.

"For now there are no talks. Perhaps it is best if he doesn't finish his career at Real Madrid but at another club. We never know. Football is changing so fast – you must enjoy the moment."

Ramos will likely line up for Spain this evening in their Euro 2016 qualifier at Belarus.
