Manchester United are reportedly keen to bring back Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid in a £55m deal.

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to bring back Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford.

The Portugal captain, who left the former Premier League champions for the Bernabeu in 2009 for a record £80m, has had doubts raised over his future in Spain following revelations that he was unhappy in Madrid.

While the 28-year-old has insisted that he will respect his contract with the Spanish giants, it is understood that United are prepared to lodge a £55m financial package for Ronaldo, whose advisers are interested in commercial ventures in England, according to the Daily Star.

The former Ballon d'Or winner's reported £220,000-a-week wages appeared to be an initial stumbling block, but it is believed that the Red Devils will implement a new structure, which will give Ronaldo a salary as well as an endorsement package with United's sponsor.

Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked to the Portugal star.
