Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez may reportedly miss out on a move to Inter Milan if Anthony Martial faces a lengthy period out with a thigh injury.

Manchester United may reportedly consider keeping Alexis Sanchez at Old Trafford should Anthony Martial face a prolonged period on the sidelines.

Having held discussions with Inter Milan, United are currently expected to allow the forward to make the switch to San Siro before September 2, initially on a loan deal.

However, according to The Guardian, the transfer is effectively on hold as United wait to discover the extent of an injury sustained by Martial.

The France international picked up a thigh problem against Crystal Palace at the weekend, and the issue is currently being assessed by United's medical team.

The report suggests that United, given their lack of frontline strikers, may opt to retain the services of Sanchez if Martial is ruled out for the foreseeable future.

Sanchez is yet to represent the North-West giants this season.
