Manchester United will reportedly make a bid for Leicester City attacker James Maddison once the January transfer window opens for business.
The Red Devils suffered a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon - a result which has already left the team five points behind division leaders Liverpool.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side were widely expected to bring a new attacking midfielder to Old Trafford during the summer transfer window, but the club did not make another signing after Harry Maguire.
According to The Mirror, though, United have identified Maddison as the perfect player to boost their squad, and the 20-time English champions will make a bid at the start of 2020.
That said, the report claims that the Red Devils will have to come up with an offer of around £80m for the Englishman, while any deal is likely to have to wait until next summer despite the club's desire to sign Maddison at the mid-point of the season.
The 22-year-old contributed seven goals and seven assists in the Premier League last season, while he has already managed two assists in three league appearances this term.
