Manchester United target Pedro 'asks to leave Barcelona'

Manchester United target Pedro reportedly hands in a transfer request in an attempt to force a move from Barcelona this summer.

Rumoured Manchester United target Pedro has reportedly asked to leave Barcelona this summer.

The Spanish winger saw himself fall down the pecking order at Camp Nou last season due to the form of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar as the club's front three.

Old Trafford has long appeared the most likely destination for the 28-year-old, although Barca are reportedly unwilling to sell while Neymar remains sidelined with mumps.

Pedro was left out of the starting lineup for this evening's UEFA Super Cup clash with Sevilla, and his exit appears to be edging closer after Barca's sporting director Robert Fernandez revealed that he had handed in a transfer request.

"Pedro said he wants to go, we want him to stay, [it's] up to him. This could be his last game but we are not going to accept less than €30m (£21.3m) for him," he told TV3.

Pedro has scored 98 goals in 318 appearances for the Spanish giants, picking up 14 major trophies in the process.
