Former RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick tips Dayot Upamecano to snub interest from the Premier League in order to link up with Bayern Munich.

Former RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick has suggested that Dayot Upamecano could turn down a move to the Premier League in favour of joining Bayern Munich.

A number of leading Premier League sides - namely Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal - have been credited with an interest in the highly-rated centre-back in recent months.

Liverpool are allegedly stepping up their interest in Upamecano amid the defensive crisis at Anfield, but Rangnick believes that the Frenchman could become a huge success at perennial Bundesliga champions Bayern.

When asked if Upamecano could indeed make the switch across Germany to link up with the Bavarian giants, Rangnick told Sport1: "Why not? Bayern know this player well, you can assume that.

"Physically, Bayern saw that in direct duels: no one will run away from him. He might still have one or two risky balls too many in a game, but he will certainly learn in the next few years.

"I got to know Upa and his family over many years. They not only make decisions that sound good to them in terms of his image, but they also make decisions based on the feeling of what is best for the player himself."

Upamecano is tied down to RB Leipzig until 2023, but the 22-year-old possesses a £40m release clause in his existing contract, which will become active next summer.
