Manchester United have reportedly switched their focus to Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin in their frantic search for a new centre-back.
The Red Devils are understood to have already missed out on a number of targets, including Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire, Jerome Boateng and Yerry Mina.
Sky Sports News reports that, despite Jose Mourinho's claims on Thursday morning that no further deals are close to being completed, United could yet bring in Godin from Atletico.
Contact is said to have been made by United, who will be made to spend big for the Uruguay international if they are to force through a deal in the final hours of the summer window.
Godin is into the final year of his contract at the Wanda Metropolitano, but Atletico are not actively looking to cash in and will therefore play hardball.
