Manchester United must bring in Jadon Sancho, Harry Kane and Jack Grealish if they are to challenge for major honours, according to Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer.

Alan Shearer has suggested that Manchester United need to sign Jadon Sancho, Harry Kane and Jack Grealish if they are to realistically challenge for the Premier League title.

The Red Devils have been tipped to spend big at the end of the season to further strengthen their squad on the back of the arrival of Bruno Fernandes in January.

Borussia Dortmund forward Sancho, Tottenham Hotspur striker Kane and Aston Villa midfielder Grealish have each been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Former Newcastle United star Shearer believes that all three players need to be snapped up if United are to return to the pinnacle of the sport.

"Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was spot on when he said there could be a number of clubs forced into selling their big players for financial reasons," he told The Sun.

"Whereas the majority will look to survive first before looking at transfer targets, Manchester United are in a different boat. And with their financial clout, they are in a good position to take advantage in future transfer markets once football is eventually back.

"To get anywhere near where they want to be then they need three, possibly four, big signings.

"I understand the talk of Jadon Sancho, I understand the talk of Harry Kane and I certainly understand the talk of Jack Grealish. Those three are exactly the types they need if they are to compete at the top again."

Meanwhile, it has been claimed that Solskjaer may offload five first-team players as part of his big summer overhaul.
