Manchester United have confirmed that Chris Smalling has signed a new deal with the club until summer 2019.
The England international, 25, has emerged as a key figure in Louis van Gaal's squad this season.
Smalling moved to Old Trafford from Fulham in 2010 and has gone on to make 147 appearances for the Red Devils.
"I'm delighted to sign my new contract," he told the club's official website. "I am so proud to play for such a great club. We have developed as a team over the course of the season under Louis van Gaal and we are now playing as a complete unit.
"This is a very exciting time to be at Manchester United, we are all determined to get back to where we belong and competing at the highest level."
Smalling has scored four goals in 24 matches for United so far this season, including one in their recent 4-2 victory over local rivals Manchester City in the Premier League.
