Darjo Srna urges Mateo Kovacic to leave Inter Milan

Darjo Srna claims that Croatian compatriot Mateo Kovavic, who has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United, needs to leave Inter Milan to fulfil his potential.

Darjo Srna has claimed that Croatian compatriot Mateo Kovacic needs to leave Inter Milan in order to fulfil his potential.

The 20-year-old, who moved to the San Siro from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2013, is widely considered one of the most talented young midfielders in Europe.

However, experienced Shakhtar Donetsk full-back Srna is concerned that his development will stall if he stays at an Inter side who are ninth in Serie A and continue to struggle to regain their former glory.

"Mateo is one of the best young players in Serie A, but, if he wants to progress, he must go to another club. Inter are far from their glory days," Srna told reporters on Tuesday.

Kovacic has been linked with moves to Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool.
