Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly failed with a £15.5m offer for Bologna centre-back Takehiro Tomiyasu.
Spurs have seemingly identified the Japan international as the ideal player to boost their defence this summer, with the club's new director of football Fabio Paratici thought to be working on a deal.
A recent report claimed that Manchester United have also been alerted to Tomiyasu's potential availability during this summer's transfer window.
According to Sky Sports News, Nuno Espirito Santo's side approached Bologna with an offer worth £15.5m, which would be made up of a £12.9m fee upfront plus a further £2.6m in add-ons.
However, the report claims that the Serie A outfit rejected the bid as they want at least £17.2m for a player who still has three years left to run on his contract with I Rossoblu.
Tomiyasu, who is capable of playing as a right-back and a centre-back, has scored three times and registered three assists in 63 appearances for his current side since arriving in July 2019.
